rotten tomatoes Ratings are often controversial, with critics and general audiences often giving different ratings to films, but no rating is more controversial than the most recent rating given to the film. Orsen Wells’ 1940s classic Citizen Kane.

Recently, Citizen Kane (previously rated 100% Fresh) was returned to a 99% Fresh rating on rotten tomatoes. This change was due to the discovery of a 1941 review by Chicago Tribune.

“You’ve heard a lot about this movie and through the advertising I see some pundits say it’s ‘the best movie ever made,’” reads the review written by an anonymous critic under a pseudonym “Mae Tinée” (you know, like matineé). “I don’t. It’s interesting. It’s different. In fact, it’s strange enough to be a museum piece. But sacrificing simplicity for eccentricity robs it of distinction and prized value.” intelligence in general.”

Citizen Kane’s place in general film history has been debated by film critics, students, and scholars, but no critic has ever given the film a truly negative review, or I think so. But the most interesting thing about this change above rotten tomatoes is the one who replaced the timeless classic Mr. Wells… Paddington 2.

Paddington 2, the 2017 sequel to the 2014 film Paddington (based on the popular children’s book series), features Ben Whishaw as the voice of the enchanting bear. The film also stars Hugh Grant as the villain, with a third film in the works.

Director Ben King tells Hollywood Reporter“It’s great to be on any list that features Citizen Kane, but obviously this is a pretty wacky list, ranging from Citizen Kane to Paddington 2, so I’ll try not to take it too seriously . I won’t let it think too much and immediately build my Xanadu. But I’m preparing a model just in case.”

King added, when asked how Paddington himself might react, “I imagine he would open the marmalade and eat a second sandwich – you would think he wouldn’t be too excited.” The marmalade-loving bear’s official Twitter account tweeted his response below:

I really hope Mr. Kane won’t be too upset when he hears that I’ve gone over him with rotten tomatoes.

While Citizen Kane is very popular among film enthusiasts and filmmakers, it seems like Paddington 2 is just as popular everywhere else.
