There has been a spike in the number of men sending sex messages to AI bots on Instagram behind their partners’ backs, sparking debate about what constitutes cheating.

TikTok user Daphne, who goes by the nickname ‘daphodilhoe’ on the platform, shared her own story of catching an ex sending cheeky messages behind her back to a bot.
“He wanted to show me this meme so he pulled up his Instagram…as he was scrolling in his DMs, I saw something that said ‘hey, winking face, here’s the link,’ she explained.
While her ex-boyfriend tried to dismiss the message as just “soccer talk,” she quickly discovered that he had in fact contacted the bot first by replying to one of her Instagram stories. It.
“It’s disgusting how guys fall for that bait,” Daphne said. “How stupid are you?”
While viewers wondered whether messaging an Instagram bot constituted cheating, Daphne clearly defined her boundaries when it came to the issue; “It’s cheating; you were planning on talking to another girl in a provocative manner.”
To support her stance, one person wrote, “If you consider it cheating then it is cheating, [especially] if he knows how you feel about exclusivity in the relationship.”
