Death of UW Madison student
It was reported that a student died at the University of Wisconsin-Madison at their campus home on Friday. University of Wisconsin Police and the Dane County Medical Examiner are conducting the investigation. The student’s death was confirmed outside Smith Residence Hall by Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Lori Reesor, and police do not suspect foul play. University Health Services is working to connect those affected by the incident with mental health and counseling services.
Madison Police Department student death that occurred on Mifflin Street was accidental. Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Lori Reesor sent a letter to the UW community offering support following her death. University Health Services and UW Deans visited neighborhoods throughout the day to check on students and offer support. Other students were being questioned at the time of this student’s death, so Reesor reminded students about mental health resources.
According to UW, no further information will be provided out of respect for the family’s wishes. The university is not willing to provide any further information regarding the incident at this time.
