Meta Threads competitor X has implemented the ability for users to edit their posts after publishing. However, this feature will only be available on posts for a certain period of time after you post something.

Theme implements post editing for everyone
The official Threads account announced the new feature on October 12, 2023. Unlike on X (formerly Twitter), the ability to edit posts is not locked upon registration.
The time limit for editing your post is just five minutes, which means you have to be quick. In our testing, you also couldn’t add new images to posts or remove images from previously published posts. Rather, you can only edit the text of the post.
One difference between the editing feature on Threads versus X is that a post edited on Threads does not include a label indicating it has been edited or a revision history of the edits.
How to edit posts on topic
Editing posts on Threads is simple and only takes a few steps.
If you’ve posted something that you want to change, follow these steps:
2 images
- Open the related article on Topics. The editing feature works both on the mobile app and the website, so you can use both.
- Tap the three-dot icon at the top of the post, next to the timestamp.
- Select Edit.
- Make the necessary changes and select Post.
The Edit button also includes a timer, so you know how much time you have left to make changes to the post. If the five-minute time limit expires, the option to edit the post will disappear. Instead, you’ll only see the option to hide the number of likes, delete the post, or choose who can reply.
The update that comes with voice posts can be considered one of the features that Threads needs to become an X-killer. While Threads was initially fairly simple when it launched, it has since rolled out many features, including the Threads web platform.
Freely edit your topic posts
The theme allows you to edit your posts without signing up for Meta Verified, a welcome addition to the app for many users. You can change the text of your post if you discover a typo, as long as you do so within five minutes.
