Amit Shah inaugurated Ram Temple-themed Durga Pandal
Today, October 16, the Ram Temple-themed Durga Pandal at Santosh Mitra Square in north Kolkata is expected to be inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Ram Temple in Ayodhya, still under construction, was the inspiration for the vandals. According to BJP leader Sajal Ghosh, the official event will begin at 4 pm at Santosh Mitra Square Puja. The Santosh Mitra Square Puja Committee was responsible for organizing the vandalism of Durga Puja, also known as Sajay Ghosh’s Puja. The continued construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya was the inspiration for this year’s theme, “Ram Temple”. The Puja saboteur was also opened by Amit Shah in 2021, during the Kolkata Assembly elections.
During that time, the BJP celebrated Durga Puja in Bengal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually participated in the ceremony. Amit Shah spent the weekend in Gujarat during his three-day stay there. He went to watch the World Cup match between India and Pakistan at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Besides, he also visited the youth from “Anganwadi” centers in his Lok Sabha district. On X (formerly Twitter), Shah wrote, “Today I went to the play area with children in Anganwadi centers of my Lok Sabha constituency. … the children of the Anganwadi center in my Lok Sabha group have all the possible comforts and joys that children from rich families have.”
On October 15, he dedicated the “Samau Shaheed Memorial”, established in memory of the 12 Mansa rebels who were hanged by the British during the 1857 uprising. He then addressed the crowd and opened a library in Gandhinagar district of Gujarat. Later that day, on the first day of the Navratri holiday, Shah participated in the ‘Kesariya’ Garba celebrations in Surat.
