She represented India for the first time at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships, held in New Delhi, where she won the bronze medal in the Welterweight (69 kg) category on 23 November 2018. 2019 , Borgohain was selected for her second Women’s World Cup. In 2020, Borgohain secured her Olympic berth in the 69 kg category with a 5-0 win over MaftunaKhon Melieva of Uzbekistan in the 2020 Asia & Oceania Boxing Olympic Qualifying Tournament. With this, she became the first sportsperson from Assam to qualify for the Olympics. She lost to 2018 AIBA World Boxing Championships silver medalist Gu Hong of China and won the bronze medal at the Asian Olympic Qualifiers. Lovlina is currently participating in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. She defeated German boxer Nadine Apetz. On July 30, 2021, she defeated Chen Nien-chin of Chinese Taipei and won the medal.
