A university student has explained how Below Deck inspired her to leave school to work on yachts.
Below Deck has a regularly rotating cast of crew members who will appear for one season on the cruise ship before moving on to other jobs the following year.
Of course, some crew members also left the yacht against their will. For example, Hannah Ferrier of Below Deck Med was kicked off the boat by Captain Sandy for bringing drugs on board the yacht.
With all these openings on the various Below Deck ships as well as the popularity of the show and its spin-offs, it’s no surprise that some people may be inspired to seek out a Similar adventures on the high seas.

College student explains why he quit to pursue the yachting life
One such dreamer is Brooke Ransome, who revealed in an interview that she left university to pursue a life working on superyachts like the ones featured in Below. Deck.
“I decided not to follow the traditional path of university – I wanted to travel more and live while I was still young,” Ransome explains his decision.
After completing a lengthy certification course, Ransome spent six months applying for jobs at the docks before landing a stewardess position on a 252ft luxury superyacht in Equatorial Guinea.
Since then, she’s moved on to another cruise ship in the Mediterranean, where she compares her experience to what fans get a glimpse of each week on Below Deck Med.
“I can’t say too much, but there were a lot of people trying to get on the boat and you could tell there were a lot of crew members – the drama could have been very similar.”
Although the work can be tiring, the pay is light, and dealing with guests can be quite difficult, Ransome doesn’t seem to regret his decision. “I got my dream job.”
