A man went viral on social media after using a 2-liter Diet Coke bottle to take down an alleged shoplifter.

Security camera footage shows the man standing between the shoplifter and the store’s only exit, while the two appear to be having a back-and-forth discussion. The thief then pushed the shopping cart at the guard to try to escape.
That’s when a man wearing a red hoodie suddenly appeared, holding a 2-liter Diet Coke bottle above his head in a two-handed position. He took a step closer, before throwing a soda bottle at the criminal’s head, knocking him unconscious.
It’s unclear when or where the incident happened, but the video was posted on October 30 and has since gone viral with more than 9.4 million views.
Many people praised the man in the red sweater’s accurate throw. “The guy must be throwing axes on his days off,” one user wrote. “Which MLB team is signing him?” another said.
“And it landed on the cart instead of exploding on the ground? Please raise his salary and give him a bonus,” a third person commented.
However, others are worried that the store and the man who intervened could face legal action. “Sadly, that employee will be fired and the seller will be paid a lot of money through a lawsuit,” one person shared.
“I hope it’s not an employee because the guy and the company will probably be sued,” another wrote.
“Unfortunately, the store will probably be sued,” another added.
