He is a member of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), India’s foreign intelligence agency. Ravindra is also known by the nickname “Black Tiger” and he is honored as the best spy India has ever produced. He joined the ranks of the Pakistani army and armed forces and rose to the rank of Major. Kaushik was active from 1979 to 1983. During these four years of service, he passed on some important information to India, helping to save thousands of lives.
Ravindra Kaushik’s life and education
Kaushik was born on April 11, 1952. He was born into a family of humble circumstances in Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan, India. As a teenager, Kaushik witnessed the Indo-Pak War from 1965 to 1971. The wars were probably the reason that motivated and inspired him to work for the government as How to be an agent. Helping his country in any way possible is Kaushik’s only goal. Born and raised in the northernmost district of Rajasthan, Ravindra is an Indian citizen and holds Indian nationality.
Regarding his educational background, he completed his primary education from a local government school in his hometown Sri Ganganagar. After completing his early education, he enrolled in SD Bhidani College in Ganganagar, where he received a B.Com Degree.
During his college years, Ravindra enjoyed acting. He acquired some great acting skills after he started going to theater and participating in plays and dramas. After being sent to Pakistan, he obtained an LLB degree from Karachi University and then joined the Pakistan Army.
Kaushik was nicknamed “Black Tiger” by then Indian Home Minister SB Chavan. According to his date of birth, his zodiac sign is Aries. Ravindra was a man of great courage, however, he was unhappy with the Indian government after being captured by Pakistani Intelligence. In one of the letters he wrote to his family from prison, he mentioned “If I were an American, I would be out of this prison in three days.”
Ravindra Kaushik’s career
Kaushik was appointed to the position of RAW Operator after officials witnessed his talent and unique ability to adapt to a variety of situations. He was performing in Lucknow when he received the job offer and later accepted it. After completing his B.Com Degree, Ravindra came to Delhi in 1973. He received formal training in Delhi for 2 years to prepare for being posted to the neighboring country. After 2 years, in 1975, he was sent to Pakistan as an undercover agent of RAW.
Kaushik was stationed in Islamabad and he converted to Islam and changed his name to Nabi Ahmed Shakir. Immediately after completing his LLB degree from Karachi University, he joined the Pakistan Army with the rank of Officer in the Army Accounts Department. Soon, he rose through the ranks and became a Major in the Pakistan armed forces. It was in 1979 that he successfully completed a secret mission that earned him the title “Black Tiger”.
Kaushik was active from 1979 to 1983. However, his cover was accidentally blown by another RAW Agent sent to meet Kaushik. His name is Inayat Masiha. After being captured by Pakistani Intelligence, Kaushik was sentenced to death for treason. Later, his punishment was changed from the death penalty to life imprisonment.
Ravindra spent the last 18 years of his life moving from prison to prison. Finally, in 2001, he breathed his last at Mianwali Central Jail in Punjab province, Pakistan. The cause of his death was later revealed to be tuberculosis and heart disease.
Famous filmmaker Raj Kumar Gupta, who is known for making emotional films has decided to portray Kaushik’s character and story in his upcoming film. Other films inspired by the life of “Black Tiger” are Ek Tha Tiger and RAW.

Kaushik was born into an upper-class Hindu family. His father is JM Kaushik, he is an air force veteran who worked in a factory after quitting his job. His father died of a heart attack on hearing the news of his beloved son’s death in 2001. Kaushik’s mother Amladevi passed away after five years in 2006. Ravindra has a younger brother named Rajeswarnath Kaushik .
While in Pakistan, he fell in love with a girl named Amanat, a Muslim girl and the daughter of a seamstress of a military unit of the Pakistani armed forces. They got married in 1976. From this marriage, Ravindra had a daughter. He also has a son who lives in Pakistan, named Areeb Ahmed Khan.
