Popular streamer Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel has opened up about a health concern stemming from a common bathroom habit – reusing towels for too long.
It’s no secret that streamers aren’t best known for their hygiene. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy and streamer ExtraEmily recently divided the Internet after revealing their questionable shower habits. A Roblox streamer, powEnvy, also stunned viewers by sharing pictures of their extremely dirty bedroom.
xQc’s hygiene habits are also a discussed topic. Piles of trash have regularly been discovered in streams over the years, and not long ago, he was completely embarrassed when maids cleaned his “disgusting” room on live air.
And now, in a recent broadcast, xQc shared another hygiene experience with viewers, providing insight into what can happen when you don’t change your towels regularly.
“Chat, chat… I’ll give you conversation advice. If you use it for more than two weeks, you will ruin yourself,” he warns.
“One time, after using it for a month, it developed mold. I had double ear infections because the condition was so severe. Mold builds up and then you wash your hair with it and put it in your ears and it ruins your ears,” xQc explains.
Your advice for fans? “Don’t do that. One week max!”
xQc’s recommendations are consistent with those of medical experts. The Cleaning Institute recommends washing towels after three to five uses, while the Cleveland Clinic recommends washing them weekly. Hand towels are exposed to more bacteria and should be changed every one to two days.
But many of his fans are still stunned by this revelation for many reasons.
While some people quickly commented: “Dear, you must hang the towel up after using it, not throw it on the floor.” Others, perhaps a little nervous, asked, “Wait, do you have to get a new towel every month?”
So next time you reach for that towel, remember xQc’s advice and consider whether it’s time to buy a new one.
