Some people perform their duties with complete principles and honesty and many times they save the lives of others without worrying about their own lives. Such an honest and dedicated person lost his life while saving the lives of others. The deceased was a firefighter and was from Chicago. On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, he was killed while responding to a house fire on the South Side. This incident happened in the early morning of the previous day. Pelt, 49, who has been with the Chicago Fire Department since 2005, was one of three firefighters injured in the incident.
Cause of death of Jermaine Pelt
Sadly, he lost his life after being seriously injured. News of his passing was officially confirmed by Annette Nance-Holt, Fire Commissioner. His death has brought sadness across social media platforms and people are paying tribute and remembering him for his dedication to his duty. He left behind two children, an adult daughter and a 6-year-old son. Her eldest daughter is married. The commissioner shares that Pelt’s daughter learned about his father’s passing while she was on her honeymoon.
Chicago Fire Department Deputy District Chief Anthony Frazier Sr. addressed this sad news and stated that “We knew that every time the bell rang and we made those calls, we knew that there was a possibility that they I won’t be able to go back. But that is what we signed up for and our duty is to save the lives of others without regard for our own. We are trained and know how to get out of bad situations, but sometimes, it’s unavoidable.”
Meanwhile, the Fire Commissioner also confirmed that there was no explosion and that Pelt was not trapped inside the fire building. Therefore, investigators are currently looking into the circumstances behind Pelt’s death. His family and colleagues at the fire department were extremely shocked and saddened for him as he had just held his daughter’s wedding. The news of his passing was no less than a tragedy for the entire community as well as for his team. Several other people also expressed their sadness after learning of the firefighter’s death.
People are paying tribute to him through their Twitter accounts and sending their sympathies and condolences to his family, who are currently devastated by this sad news. Authorities also confirmed Pelt was taken to Christ Hospital, where he received CPR. The doctors and nurses tried their best to save his life but sadly he left us in a state of mourning.
