A woman shocked the online community after sharing how her downstairs neighbors had filed multiple noise complaints against her toddler.
When living in an apartment, it is generally understood that you may have to hear your neighbors from time to time.
However, one mother left many viewers shocked and outraged after revealing how often her downstairs neighbors filed noise complaints against her family.
Hayley Becker took to TikTok to find out if she was wrong after receiving a formal complaint from her building manager, confused by the consistent outcry from her downstairs neighbors over her words. Their complaints revolved around her toddler’s activities.
“We had new neighbors who moved in three weeks ago. They live under us… we live in a beautiful complex,” Hayley said, explaining that she has lived in the same apartment for four years and – to date – has never received a complaint. Any complaints?
However, a few days after the neighbors moved in, a young couple came forward to express their frustration at hearing a lot of “noise and footsteps.” And despite explaining that the noise came from the toddler’s activities, the complaints didn’t stop there.
“My husband [texted] I and [said] ‘The front office just called because [the neighbors] officially make a noise complaint,’” Hayley said. She called the office herself to explain that unless she put a “straight jacket” on her toddler, Haylee wouldn’t be able to control how often her daughter walked around their apartment.
“I will not do that. Just like I wouldn’t stop my kids from exploring, walking around the apartment, and living. It’s like it didn’t happen,” Hayley told the office, warning that they could expect to receive more complaints because of this. And she was certainly right. Hayley’s downstairs neighbors continued to complain 13 more times within three days.
Luckily, despite the seemingly endless complaints against her family, Haylee said the front office still supported her case and advised her not to worry because “the ball is in the customer’s court.” another neighborhood”.
Viewers were appalled by Haylee’s neighbors and their lack of compassion for her situation, with one writing: “It’s unrealistic to expect low/no noise living together ESPECIALLY when you have upstairs neighbors! Especially with children!”
“Property managers here…they need to be reminded that it’s apartment living,” another helpful commenter wrote. A third said, “When people start complaining as soon as they move in….nothing can make them happy.”
