In a viral post, a Twitter/X user called Coldplay and Imagine Dragons the “worst genre,” but many fans disagree.
For nearly two decades, Coldplay was considered “one of the worst things to happen to popular music.” Blockbuster albums and smash hits can’t stop many people from feeling this way.
The same can be said of Imagine Dragons, who have their own extremely vocal detractors. As they say, music is subjective and perhaps no band really deserves such ridicule.
On Twitter/X, a viral tweet shed light on these arguments – that these bands, along with OneRepublic and Maroon 5, aren’t very good.

Coldplay and Imagine fans defend the bands after viral post
“The worst genre,” Joe writes, is Levitation. They then attached screenshots of various artists, including Coldplay and Imagine Dragons, as a way to appeal to some of America’s most famous bands.
Such a vicious takedown did not sit well with die-hard Coldplay and Imagine Dragons fans, and many expressed their anger and disappointment.
One fan wrote: “Putting Coldplay next to the other 3 is a crime.”
“Please don’t do Coldplay. They have gemstones in their catalog,” Renbrandt added.
“Imagine sneaking in cold games when they have a 10-minute clip that everyone loves,” one passionate fan account begged.
They wrote that another fan called it “disrespectful” to put them in “the same category as everyone else.” “Let’s just say you only listen to popular songs on the radio…”
Imagine Dragons fans have almost spoken.
Romi Angel noted that the band was “one of the best shows I have attended. They put on a great show full of hits. Those are the bands where you think you know the top five songs and you end up singing along to every song.”
“Now what did the imaginary dragons do to you,” another fan posted.
One fan admitted to not necessarily being a fervent supporter but came to their defense. “I don’t know why so many people hate fantasy dragons. I wouldn’t call myself a fan but they have quite a few good songs.”
“I can’t believe people don’t like Imagine Dragons – I mean they’re my cup of tea,” one fan shrugged.
“The first two dragon fantasy albums were both inoffensive and had some good songs,” one fan wrote.
