A TikToker whose account includes motorcycle stunts has been thanked by police for providing them with all the evidence needed for his arrest.

A man who regularly posts motorcycle stunts on TikTok recently discovered the importance of one’s digital footprint after his account was used as evidence in his arrest .
Kane Tilney, 23, was arrested by police in February for around 20 offences, including dangerous driving, not wearing a helmet and driving without a license – and now police have happily thanked him. him because of his TikTok evidence.
Tilney regularly posts to his TikTok account, filming the young man recklessly rushing through Darlington on his motorbike. The clip shows Tilney driving on the wrong side of the road, on the sidewalk and not wearing a helmet.
Take to X (formerly Twitter), Durham Police Thanks to Tilney for providing the video via TikTok; “A nuisance cyclist has been brought to justice – after he posted a video of his offending on social media. Kane Tilney has helpfully updated his TikTok account with videos of him riding dangerously in Darlington, making our job very easy indeed…”
With a “treasure trove” of evidence against him, Tiliney pleaded guilty on November 10. He was sentenced to 12 months in prison, had his driving license revoked for two years and ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.
Durham Police Officer Kane Tilney’s digital footprint was ultimately his downfall.
Inspector Matt Plumb from Darlington Neighborhood Policing Team said in a statement: “Tilney is a serious offender who has caused trouble on the streets of Darlington with his dangerous and illegal riding .
“By filming himself committing these criminal acts and uploading them to TikTok, he clearly thought he was above the law and could do what he liked – but that ultimately led to his death. his breakdown.”
