Viewers are trying to change the narrative by explaining who Below Deck Med’s Jessika Asai in Season 8 really is.
Even though she is one of the new people on the cruise ship, Jessika Asai seems to have not made the best impression with some of the other crew members.
First, she had a pretty heated argument with Kyle Viljoen after she bad-mouthed Tumi Mhlongo about his comments about her lack of experience.
She later confronts Nat Scudder after she forms a romantic relationship with Luka Brunton, the boy Nat has wanted since the beginning of the season. Nat gave up soon after.
However, what really raised viewers’ eyebrows at her was when she accepted Kyle’s apology for shouting at her. Worried about how quickly she forgave someone for shouting at her, people began to assume that she was unsuited for the job and perhaps too naive.

Do Below Deck Med fans like Jessika Asai?
On November 24, people took to Reddit Below Deck to discuss Jessika’s character and nearly everyone stood up for her.
One fan wrote: “I don’t think she’s stupid but I think she’s never worked in a toxic environment before. It’s a good thing!! And the only reason I say that is because she seems to trust people quickly.”
Another fan agreed and wrote: “She’s not stupid, she’s not confrontational and wants to avoid drama! I admire her for being able to stay calm.”
The season isn’t over yet so there’s still time for Jessika to stand up for herself and show the world she means business.
