Below Deck Mediterranean’s Stew, Natalya Scudder, posted a vulnerable video to her Instagram talking about mental health and online bullying.
Season 8 of Below Deck Med was not very kind to Natalya, who worked as a Stewmaker on the interiors team for the past two seasons and had trouble adjusting to her teammates.
Fans noticed she was having difficulty adapting to her team as she was “bullied” by fellow Stew Kyle Viljeon and Cheif Stew Tumi Mhlongo. The drama on the yacht was such that Nat decided to leave mid-season after talking to Captain Sandy Yawn.
Was Below Deck Med’s Natalya Scudder bullied?
Shortly after the episode announcing her departure aired, Natalya posted a video to her Instagram addressing the issue of online bullying. She began by talking about her lifelong struggle with mental health. “When I was 15-16 years old, I started dealing with depression,” she said. I would be so overwhelmed by my emotions that I wouldn’t be able to deal with it.”
Nat shared her experience of surviving two sexual assaults and the mental health difficulties that came with them. She later confessed that her mental health deteriorated while on the show so she had to leave before things got worse.
While the show was airing, Nat once again relived her “worst nightmare” because she remembered feeling underrated with the Below Deck Med team. However, she also pointed out ongoing online bullying against her and the rest of the Below Deck cast since the series aired. She said, “The cyberbullying was horrible not only for me, but for the entire cast.”
The reality star pleaded with fans to understand that not everything that happens on set is shown on screen, asking them to treat the show as light entertainment and to stop the online hate .
