Streaming sensation xQc has hit out at Netflix critics after the Squid Game: The Challenge 299 contestant was “bullied” by his team in a heartbreaking moment.
It’s fair to say that Squid Game was a huge success as this award-winning Korean drama took over the world in a short period of time. The show quickly became the most-watched show in the history of Netflix’s streaming platform.
Of course, with its huge success, Netflix not only followed up by confirming a second season but also released a reality game show inspired by the hit Korean show, where 456 people play compete for a prize pool of $4.56 million.
However, many fans have since criticized Netflix for contestant 299, who was “bullied” by his team during the Dalgona Challenge before bursting into tears on camera.
“This is not entertainment. This is a man who just lost his chance at a life-changing sum of money when he realized he had lost everything and turned off his camera. Netflix lost the plot,” one person wrote on Twitter/X, which had garnered more than 80k likes at the time of writing.
xQc responds to critics of Squid Game: The Challenge
In response, streaming star xQc criticized those who criticized the streaming service. “Skills matter, literally. POV: Weak, sheltered people realize that not everyone wins on game shows,” he said.
“50k likes on a tweet from someone who doesn’t understand contestants willingly participating knowing they will be filmed.”
The streamer added: “Netflix has no malice about this, stop crying.”
While xQc fans called the streamer “out of touch” over the comment, the 28-year-old remained steadfast in his stance, explaining that contestants cannot expect rows million USD just for appearing and competing.
