Sindiso Magaqa murder case explained

It is understood the four men were presented before a judge at Pietermaritzburg High Court on Tuesday 25 April 2023 and they pleaded not guilty to all charges against them. It is known that the incident occurred in the Umzimkhulu area of Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital located in Durban. In September 2017, Sindiso Magaqa was shot dead. It is understood that two colleagues of ANC Youth League Secretary Sindiso Magaqa were also shot but they survived their bullet wounds. The four men, Mbulelo Mpofana, Sbonelo Myeza, Sibusiso Ncengwa and Mlungisi Ncalane were charged with murder, conspiracy to murder, conspiracy to commit murder, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and malicious damage to property. They were released on bail in February last year at the Ixopo Magistrates Court on R5,000 bail. But in March last year, Ncengwa was convicted of conspiracy to steal cash in transit and sentenced to 95 years in prison by the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
