At the age of 18, Grahame had breast implants on the NHS because years of anorexia had left her with a flat chest. In April 2007, Grahame said she underwent cosmetic surgery to correct her breast implants to fix the “ripples” left by the first surgery. In March 2021, Grahame’s family announced she had relapsed.

Later that month, Grahame entered a private facility for specialist treatment, where she remained until her death on 9 April 2021 from complications of anorexia nervosa, at the age of 38.
