The Delhi government on Sunday suspended remedial classes for students of classes IX and XII in all government schools during the winter vacation with immediate effect. The Department of Education (DOE) has issued a notice in this regard. Remedial classes were canceled due to cold snap and dense fog in Delhi. From the past few days New Delhi is witnessing harsh winter. In addition, people also saw outbreaks of fog.
However, practice tests, project assessments and internal assessments for grades 10 and 12 will be held as scheduled. The Education Department made this announcement after the temperature dropped by 1.9 degrees in Delhi’s Safdarjung on Sunday. This is the lowest temperature in January in the past two years.
What was said in the announcement?
The official notification said, ‘In view of the current cold weather situation in Delhi, principals of all government schools have been directed by the Ministry of Education to suspend remedial classes with immediate effect. ‘ The official statement added, ‘However, for the academic year 2022-23, practical tests/project assessments/internal assessments/grade 10 and 12 assignments will continue as per the fixed schedule before.’

Private schools remain closed until January 15
Second, due to the severe cold snap in the capital Delhi, the winter vacation in private schools has been extended until January 15. The Delhi Government Department of Education (DOE) has issued a circular providing this information. Private schools in Delhi are expected to open on January 9 after winter vacation.
Following the DOE’s earlier notification, all private schools in Delhi have been advised to remain closed till January 15, 2023 due to the ongoing cold spell, the notification said.
