Ahead of the series premiere, Kayla shared a promotional video for the series on Instagram, writing: “This crew of AMAZING cake decorators is getting ready for the premiere of Is It Cake? TOMORROW!!! 😍 how are you going to watch your favorite new cake show?!… .”

According to Netflix, Kayla has been baking and making cakes since she was 19 years old. In her interview with theadvocate.com, Kayla revealed that she was initially contacted asking if she wanted to be on the show, and of course she was.

Kayla then had to go through the application process to experience the craziest ride, the “Is the cake too?”

Before appearing on Is It Cake, Too?, Kayla competed in five Food Network competitions at different times. TV competition titles Kayla has participated in include Chocolate Meltdown: Hershey’s After Dark, Cake Wars, Cake Masters, Santa’s Baking Blizzard, and the Food Network Challenge. She won four of them except Santa’s Baking Blizzard.

As Kayla shared with The Advertiser, she got her first job at the age of 16 at Buckle’s in the Acadiana Mall. She also revealed that growing up she wanted to be a plastic surgeon.
