This afternoon, June 10, Hanoi candidates who took the 10th grade public high school entrance exam for the 2023-2024 school year took the 60-minute English test.

Hanoi’s 10th grade English exam includes 40 multiple-choice questions, mixed into 24 codes, and candidates take 60 minutes to complete.

Nguyen Mai Ngoc (Nam Trung Yen Secondary School) commented that this year’s exam seems more difficult than previous years, but it is still quite an easy exam. The configuration and question types are the same as previous years.

The test is 60 minutes but Ngoc only took 20 minutes. Female students are expected to achieve a score of 9 or higher.

At the Thang Long High School exam site, Tran Ngoc Diep (a student at Tran Phu Secondary School) assessed that although the test was more difficult than the previous year, it was still relatively easy overall. Sentences easily lose points related to vocabulary, in terms of synonyms and antonyms.

According to Diep Luc, there are about 2-4 questions that will cause difficulties for candidates. The number of basic sentences that most candidates can achieve is over 30. With this topic, Diep confidently got 9.25 points.

Nguyen Mai Anh, a student at Van Dien Town Secondary School, commented that this year’s exam does not include experiments. There are about 4 sentences, which involve antonyms and error correction that can cause difficulties for the experiment.

Having tried the exam in previous years, Mai Anh believes that although this year’s exam is somewhat more difficult, most candidates can score 9 points or more.

On the morning of November 6, candidates will take the Math test (essay form, 120 minutes).

According to statistics, the number of Hanoi students registering for the 10th grade entrance exam at public high schools in the 2023-2024 school year is nearly 105,000. Meanwhile, the number of admissions to public high schools is only about 72,000.

This year, Hanoi organized 201 testing sites, located at high schools and some secondary schools, and the Center for Vocational and Continuing Education. At the same time, more than 20,000 teachers were mobilized to supervise and mark exams.

Among the schools, this year, Khuong Ha Secondary School has the highest rate of biological organisms, up to 1/3.55. The reason is partly because this is a new public school in Hanoi City (starting enrollment from 2021) with low quotas.

Next is Chu Van An High School with an allowable rate of up to 1/3.43,…Aside from the high schools with extremely high response rates, there are also schools with very low loan rates.

In many schools, the number of candidates registering for their 1st choice of admission is less than the quota. These schools are all in suburban districts of Hanoi.

Candidates registering for professional classes will be added on June 12. 10 specialized exam scores = Total non-professional exam scores + Professional exam scores x 2. It is expected that no later than July 4, Hanoi will announce the exam scores.
