A woman has sparked a debate after revealing she was reselling furniture through a Facebook marketplace that a neighbor sold for free.

Furniture moving has become a popular and profitable profession, leading many people to join the Facebook marketplace to earn extra income.

What’s even better is that you don’t have to invest any money into your side business. Such was the case for one TikToker who discovered his neighbor kept giving away good furniture for free.

Taking advantage of this situation, Andrea, who follows ‘avocado’ on TikTok, shared how she makes extra money herself by reselling goods for free.

“Someone in my apartment doesn’t know what Facebook Marketplace is,” Andrea said, holding out forgotten pieces of furniture with the words “free” scrawled across the top.

“I constantly see free stuff lying around; I pulled out this bookcase for myself and then today saw a giant desk,” she continued, showing off some of her finds including an ornate frame. “I was just shocked… they didn’t even bother to sell.”

Instead, deciding to do it herself, Andrea quickly received many requests for furniture; “To anyone who is leaving your belongings behind, please continue to do so.”

Still, viewers are left wondering about the situation and whether the Facebook marketplace is really worth the trouble.

“I have stopped selling the above items [Facebook] Market because it’s too complicated. 800 ‘Is this available?’ message and then 800 people were ghosted. I have a life,” one person said, understanding why Andrea’s neighbors might not think the effort was worth it. The second person affirmed: “The Facebook market is for people who are very patient and have a lot of time.”
