Adin Ross is refuting Twitch CEO’s claim that he and other streamers were removed from TwitchCon due to their fraudulent accounts by showing security footage from the event.
At TwitchCon Kick, streamers attended the event via broadcasts outside the conference, where they wore the rival platform’s shirts. However, Adin Ross confirmed that these shirts were the reason he was eliminated from Twitchcon.
After the streamers were removed from TwitchCon, Clancy addressed the issue on his own Twitch channel. He claimed that the Kick streamers were banned from Twitch before the event and had been using alternative accounts to get badges, which is why they were removed.
“It [the removal of streamers] has nothing to do with their T-shirts,” Clancy said. “There were actually a lot of people in there wearing Kick t-shirts. That’s because they cheated to get the tickets.”
But Adin Ross is sharing footage from TwitchCon, which seems to contradict this claim.
Adin Ross says he was kicked out of Twitchcon because of his Kick shirt
Ross, one of the streamers who attended TwitchCon, denied Clancy’s claim that fake accounts were the reason they were removed. Security footage of the incident supports this claim with a security officer saying that the Kick shirts made the streamers ‘guilty by association’.
“It’s just the guy wearing the shirt,” a security guard said. “It’s a sin by association.”
Users had mixed feelings about the release of the new footage, with some saying it was a ‘bad look for Twitch’ while others praised Twitch’s actions.
“Twitter W is not popular,” said one Twitter user.
While Clancy claims that the shirts were not the cause of the problems at TwitchCon, Ross tells a different story. Twitch and Clancy have not addressed the security guard’s footage since it was released.
