A group of Airbnb guests have been criticized after banging on the door to get into the house they booked after being locked out until the next morning in a viral video.

If you scroll through TikTok long enough, chances are you’ll come across a video about Airbnb. It became one of the most talked about topics on the short-form video platform, with numerous clips uploaded by guests and hosts alike.

Both sides often complain about each other – homeowners are angry about the situation in which someone left their property and guests feel like they have been “scammed” for some of the fees they had to pay.

However, a group of guests decided to take the rowdiness to the next level and smashed the locked door of the house they had booked after the homeowner told them they would have to wait until morning.

The video – which has now been deleted after attracting more than 2 million views – was uploaded by TikToker andrewmauricegarfield, showing a group of guests smashing part of the front door to enter the house.

Apparently they were told by the landlord that he wouldn’t be able to let them in until 7am the next day, and that didn’t sit well with them. So, they manually broke part of the glass on the door and unlocked it from the inside.

Naturally, the whole thing sparked some backlash from viewers as the video made the rounds on TikTok. “This is literally the last thing I would do in this situation,” one person said. “Please, I hope they press charges,” another added. “Why would you damage someone’s property instead of waiting or going to a hotel?” another asked.

The hotel angle is what other viewers were interested in, questioning why people continue to use Airbnb. “A better option is to rent a hotel and then make the landlord pay for it,” one person said.

As noted, the original video has been deleted and has not been updated. So, it remains to be seen whether it will lead to any legal action.
