In news that is sure to divide fans, the ’90s classic Ace Ventura is getting another sequel. For those not old enough to remember, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is a hit comedy starring rubber-faced Jim Carrey. The 1994 film centers on Carrey’s Ventura, who is assigned to track down the dolphin mascot of the Miami Dolphins football team. It’s a fun and top-notch comedy from Carrey, bringing many hits like the clip below.

The film grossed $107.2 million worldwide and a year later was disappointing. Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls. The original also spawned a television series Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and independent children’s films Ace Ventura Jr.: Pet Detective.
It has now been 26 years since When Nature Calls hit theaters, Amazon decided we needed another movie in the franchise. In an interview, production company Morgan Creek revealed the much-rumored sequel is finally in the works.
“We are quite excited about the growth our franchise has with exorcism and Ace Ventura franchise – it is worth noting that there are 3 million fans chatting on the official Facebook page of Ace Ventura The audience is demanding a third season,” they said.
Morgan Creek also revealed Sonic the Hedgehog writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller will pen the script for Amazon.
“During COVID, audiences have loved and are excited to see beloved characters return for new stories. Ace Ventura will watch a new day at amazon like a big movie/theater with Sonic the Hedgehog writers,” Morgan Creek said.
Even though I’m a fan of the first movie, I’m not sure we really need another one Ace Ventura movie. Which says, To 2 Americas turned out better than expected, so Amazon can work its magic again.
