Andhra Pradesh begins census of backward classes

On November 15, C Srinivas Venugopala Krishna, Minister for Backward Classes Welfare of Andhra Pradesh, announced that the census of backward classes would begin. The state government uses the village secretariat system and a large number of volunteers to improve community services through a comprehensive strategy. To ensure improved community services, the Andhra Pradesh government, through Backward Classes Welfare Minister C Srinivas Venugopala Krishna, said on Wednesday that the census of the castes Backward classes will begin around November 15.

According to the Minister, a sizable volunteer force and village secretariat system will be used to conduct the caste census. “This classy investigation will begin on November 15 and last several weeks thereafter. At a press conference held at the Secretariat, Krishna announced, “The village secretariat system will be widely used for the BC caste census, along with the volunteer system.” The minister also informed the media about some castes in backward communities, asserting that these groups do not know how many members they have. He pointed out that these castes do not know the extent of their representation in different areas, but he also noted that the census will clear this web of misinformation.

He emphasized that on April 11, the Central Government received a decision from Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, urging them to conduct a caste census in addition to the population census.
