Asmongold has responded to backlash following some controversial ‘sexist’ statements, in which he claimed Twitch culture is for “losers”.
Twitch streamer Asmongold, known for his opinionated content, received backlash after criticizing the platform’s culture during a live broadcast on November 19.
Accused of being a “sellout” for joining Kick, Asmongold claimed Twitch culture was “for losers” and called fans “damned.”
Now, many have insinuated that his comments were ‘sexist’, questioning whether a female streamer could get away with saying similar things. But Asmongold isn’t here for that.
“So my favorite thing is that whenever someone says something, everyone turns it into something like ‘sexist,’” Asmongold said on air.
Responding to a post on Let this person and many of these people know that there are many people who are very angry with what I said. And you know what, I’m not joking.”
“I’m not saying that to one rude viewer, I’m saying that to everyone,” he explained. “That’s the difference… I know this sounds weird to you guys, but like I really don’t care if people write tweets like this about me… it’s freedom of speech her, she can say whatever she wants to say about me.”
The Twitch streamer’s fans applauded the way he handled the backlash, with one person writing: “I love the way Asmongold deals with issues like this. He has unbreakable conspiracy armor. His editor[s] just took him to new heights.”
“I think one reason Asmon is so popular is because he never pretends to be something he’s not,” said another. “Authenticity means something, more than ever in this age of Instagram filters and vulnerability [backpedaling].”
