Joey joins The Bachelorette franchise for season 20 to compete for Charity Lawson’s heart. He made it to the finals, but Charity ultimately rejected Joey’s proposal and got engaged to Dotun Olubeko.
Now, Joey is on his own journey to find love, but it won’t be easy. The tennis coach will travel the world with more than 30 women to some of the most romantic locations.

The new trailer for The Bachelor season 28 reveals Joey’s emotional journey on the show. While many women seem to love him, he is still afraid after Charity’s rejection.
“I’m sick of giving everything I can and not getting anything in return,” Joey explains through tears in the trailer. “With Charity, I tried to kneel down and was stopped. So my biggest fear is ‘the person’ walking out.”
Later in the trailer, a “shocking first scene in Bachelor history” is revealed, showing Joey standing at the final rose ceremony and sighing. “It’s crazy, I didn’t expect it at all. I can’t think of that ever happening before.”
“I know I gave as much as I could. I’m sick of feeling like this,” Joey continued as he stepped away from the podium and took off his suit jacket.
Although viewers still don’t know what that shocking moment will be, they still hope that Joey won’t be rejected again.
But if the trailer is anything to go by, it seems like he won’t end up the same as Charity did in The Bachelorette season 20. It will be very upsetting to see Joey heartbroken again.
The Bachelor season 28 airs Monday, January 22 at 8pm ET on ABC.
