Streamers on Twitch are always competing for records like longest live stream, side contests, most subscribers, or most viewers. To keep track of it all, here are the biggest live streaming records as of October 2023.

As live streaming audiences grow, streamers are in a battle for viewers’ attention. Established names struggle to maintain viewership, while newcomers compete for their market share. Along the way, records were set for various milestones.

You can see the Twitch viewership record here as well as the highest viewership on YouTube. However, while peak viewership alone is the most common measure of popularity on Twitch, there are still many other records and milestones that streamers strive for. Check out the records below.

Most subscribers on Twitch ever

The record for the highest number of subs on Twitch at one time is held by Kai Cenat with 306,621 subscribers. This number beat the previous record held by Ludwig, with 283,066 registrants.

Both of these records were achieved during 30-day spin-off broadcasts, in which viewers extended the broadcast by subscribing to the channel.

In addition to viewers and followers, subscribers are another way to measure a streamer’s popularity. However, unlike followers, the number of subscribers can tell us how popular that streamer is at a given time as it can increase or decrease monthly.

Over the years, many streamers have broken records for the most number of subscribers at once. Famously, Ninja set the record with more than 269,000 people in April 2018 – without entering the side competition – but that record has since been beaten. Kai Cenat currently holds the record after the 2023 extra competition.

Despite major side contests from both Kkatamina (73,000 subscribers) and Ironmouse (177,000 subscribers), no one was able to surpass Ludwig’s record of 283k until Kai Cenat. Kkatamina held the record for the number of female streamers before being surpassed by Ironmouse.

Kai Cenat is currently the record holder and remains the most subscribed streamer on Twitch at the time of writing.

Longest sideshow on Twitch

The current record for longest marathon running time is 693 days held by Emilycc. This stream is still ongoing. Emily is currently aiming for a total of 730 days to achieve two years in a row in her sub-competition.

Fueled by the popularity of Ludwig’s spin-off contest, a lot of streamers are now hosting their own contests. For each registration or donation, a period of time is added to the clock and streamers must continue streaming until the time runs out.

Ludwig limits his broadcast to 30 days, but others are less cautious. In September 2021, PandaTV streamed 840 hours, setting a new record. This was later overshadowed by PappiEric with its extra 45-day competition. In September 2021, Athena streamed over 1000 consecutive hours for her spinoff, a total of 47 days.

Currently, the record stands at a whopping 693 days, completed by streamer Emilycc. Still streaming (as of press time), this broadcast holds the current record for longest substream. Emily is now aiming for two years in a row for her extra competition after hitting the 1 year mark.

A new sub-competition from streamer ‘Sweaty Pedals’ has now taken second place, with over 280 days of existence at the time of writing and still counting.

Streamer Ambish achieved the feat on day 258 of his side competition. However, while sleeping, Ambish played VOD content and paused the timer, which eliminated the top 5 overall competition. However, this is the 3rd longest sub-competition in terms of live stream time.

Longest stream on Twitch

The streams in this sub-competition may seem long, but they’re nothing compared to the longest stream on Twitch. So what is the longest live stream on Twitch ever by a streamer?

This record was originally set by Los Pollos TV in April 2020 with 161 hours of live streaming, and since then, many broadcasters have tried to break it. CallMeCypher set a new record soon after, streaming for 200 consecutive hours before ending due to technical difficulties.

Now, there is a clear record holder and it is unlikely anyone will surpass them. Twitch streamer GPHustla has been streaming an uninterrupted broadcast for 634 days. This is the longest solo stream on Twitch.

Unfortunately, his channel was suspended indefinitely, ending its broadcast. GPHustla believes Twitch made a mistake in suspending him, but his calls have so far been unsuccessful or ignored. Therefore, he is now streaming on YouTube instead.

Apart from solo streamers, the ‘StreamerHouse’ channel claims to have been broadcasting continuously since 2013, which of course means it holds the overall record. However, this is a group of friends and guests rather than an individual streaming.
