Bjorn Borg was born in Stockholm, Sweden, on June 6, 1956, son of Margaretha Borg and Rune Borg (1932-2008). He was the only son of his parents and grew up in Sodertalje.

Bjorn Borg was 15 when he represented Sweden in the Davis Cup in 1972, and won the junior singles title at Wimbledon that year. Borg won the French Open singles title in 1974, his first Grand Slam title.
In 1975, Borg defended his French Open title and advanced to the Wimbledon quarterfinals before losing to Ashe. Borg was defeated by Italian Adriano Panatta at the 1976 French Open. In 1976, Borg won Wimbledon without losing a set.
Borg missed the French Open in 1977. However, he won Wimbledon for the second time, propelling him to the top of the world rankings. Borg was at the peak of his career from 1978 to 1980, winning the French Open and Wimbledon three years in a row.
In 1981, Borg won his sixth and final French Open title and advanced to the Wimbledon final, where McEnroe ended his winning streak.
