Phone case company Casetify has been accused of stealing designs from YouTuber JerryRig Everything and Dbrand, who have now started a lawsuit against Casetify. The company has now responded to the allegations about X.
Casetify, one of the world’s largest phone case suppliers, is under fire from Dbrand after the company claimed Casetify “stole” JerryRigEverything’s case design.
In a series of tweets, Dbrand placed Casetify’s design next to theirs, showing similarities between what’s listed on Casetify’s website and what’s on the phone cases they’re selling.
Dbrand quickly confirmed to Dexerto that it had filed a “multi-million dollar federal lawsuit” against Casetify and planned to take the company to court over the matter.
Casetify released a statement following copyright complaints and lawsuits
Casetify has now issued a statement in response to the copyright allegation, posted to X/Twitter.
“CASETiFY has always been a bastion of originality and we are proud of it,” they wrote.
“We are currently investigating copyright allegations against us. We immediately removed the designs in question from all platforms. We were also investigating a DDOS attack that disrupted our website when allegations surfaced. All systems are now back to normal. All customer information is safe.
“Thank you for your patience and support during this challenging time.”
It appeared after Dbrand posted a series of tweets shows the similarities between JerryRig Everything’s case design, which is made to look like the inside of a phone, and compares it to Casetify’s design.
They point out small details in Jerry’s design, including personally important numbers and quotes, that Casetify also appears to have included in their phone case designs even though they weren’t included in the design. the internal hardware of the actual phone.
JerryRigEverything also pre-purchased a sample of these phone cases to compare them to what Dbrand and himself were selling to see if any unique parts of their design were present in Casetify’s offering. .
He spoke about the lawsuit that both he and Dbrand are filing, and asserted that it may take some time for the legal system to work. “There is a real possibility that no one wins here. I think they stole something and I think they know They stole something, but the wheels of justice turn extremely slowly.”
