TikTok star Charli D’Amelio has faced backlash for her work’s “mockery of the working class” after she was filmed at a Walmart store posing as a cashier to promote the brand My new popcorn.
Charli D’Amelio became one of the biggest influencers in the world after she and her sister became TikTok sensations.
Charli and her family have since become full-fledged reality stars after launching their hit reality show The D’Amelios and pursuing many other business ventures.
Now, it’s been announced that Charli, Dixie, and parents Marc and Heidi D’Amelio have launched Be Happy Snacks Popcorn, which is being sold exclusively at Walmart.
However, she appeared at a Walmart store to promote her new brand and immediately faced backlash after being discovered impersonating a cashier.

Charlie D’Amelio visited a Walmart store to film promotional content after it was announced that her popcorn brand was being stocked nationwide in their stores.
In the video going viral on social media, the TikTok star is seen wearing a classic Walmart uniform complete with her own name badge as she poses for photos and videos scanning her popcorn brand.
Since the clip was posted, she has faced backlash with hundreds of comments criticizing D’Amelio for “pretending” to be an employee at the store.
“I feel like this is making fun of working class jobs but that’s okay,” said the top comment, which has garnered more than 13k likes.
Similar comments flooded in: “Why do rich people like to cosplay poor people” and “She’s making fun of the jobs of low-income people… hooray!”
“She doesn’t even really work. This is a PR photo shoot so the camera flashes according to the pose. She’ll never know what it’s like to work a real 9 a.m. job like this. Honestly, she’s pathetic,” another added.
At press time, Charli D’Amelio or Walmart had no further comment on the situation.
