A Chipotle restaurant in Kansas City, Missouri changed its name ahead of tonight’s Chiefs game after an old tweet from Travis Kelce resurfaced.
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has consistently made headlines with both his football statistics and his relationships.
Most recently, however, Kelce’s resurfaced tweet about Chipotle prompted a Kansas City location to change the name of their restaurant ahead of tonight’s Chiefs game.
To make the challenge more official, the restaurant even added a new sign that mimicked Kelce’s hilarious tweet.
Chipotle’s official X/Twitter account has changed its name to mimic Travis Kelce’s old tweet
Twelve years ago, on April 27, 2011, Travis Kelce tweeted: “Got from class to therapy, now I need some #chipolte and then I’m going to go test my new abilities! !”
However, he misspelled “Chipotle” by changing the t and l.
Although this tweet is from many years ago, a real Chipotle in Kansas City chose to change their restaurant sign to mimic Kelce’s misspelling.
The sign was posted at the Kansas City location, as the Chiefs will play the Philadelphia Eagles tonight at their home stadium, Arrowhead.
Chipotle’s official X/Twitter account also changed its name to “Chipolte” to go along with Kelce’s tweet.
Although some fans mocked Kelce for his spelling mistakes, others praised him for his ease of eating at the same place every day that everyone goes to eat.
Some fans even commented on Taylor Swift and Chipotle’s best pun like: “Sometimes I feel like Chipotle is a sexy baby.” While another added some football talk by asking Chipotle to “throw” them a free burrito.
For tonight’s game, the Chiefs (7-2) and Eagles (8-1) face off at 8:15 p.m. EST.
