Mexican police have arrested and handcuffed a Chucky doll and its owner after the duo allegedly terrorized people with knives.
Chucky – the killer doll with fried orange hair and a fondness for playing with knives – has built up a strong cult following over the years. After making her debut in 1988, the doll received her own franchise and became an icon in pop culture.
However, sometimes dolls find themselves a little too comfortable in the real world. In 2021, a “social experiment” saw someone dressed as the famous doll in an attempt to terrorize New York City subway riders.
And now Chucky is back again, this time handcuffed and arrested by Mexican police after a man used a doll and a “huge” knife to scare people.
Suspect Carlos N was arrested on September 11 for disturbing public order and endangering the community in Monclava, a city in the northern state of Coahuila.
According to Fuerza Informativa Azteca, Carlos is said to have used a Chucky doll to attack locals with a knife and demand money, allegedly under the influence of banned substances.
Apparently at the behest of local media, officers detained the “devil doll,” handcuffed the toy and held it up for photos. However, an officer involved in Chucky’s detention was later reprimanded for not taking their job seriously.
Interestingly, the official Chucky account responded to the news of the arrest by tweeting: “I was set up” and it seems like the doll received a lot of support.
“I believe in you! You were my best friend until the end! one person wrote. Another claimed to have discovered evidence of “police brutality,” citing an officer who was Hold the doll’s hair.
It is currently unknown whether Chucky is behind bars or not. Check out all the latest entertainment news on our site here.
