He has played for various organizations, including the National Basketball Association (NBA), where he spent 15 seasons. Clyde Drexler was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on June 22, 1962. His mother’s name was Eunice Scott and he had three siblings: a brother and two sisters named James, Denise and Virginia. Later, his family moved to Houston, Texas, to South Park. His family owned the world-famous Drexler’s BBQ & Grill, which is now run by his other siblings.
He attended Ross Sterling High School, where he was a classmate of professional tennis player Zina Garrison. He was a baseball player at the time and tried basketball, but was not successful. He later attended the University of Houston, where college coaches noticed his talent. His friend Michael Young introduced him to New Mexico State University, Texas Tech University, and the University of Houston, where he and his friend were recruited as basketball players. He majored in finance in college and previously worked at a bank.

Clyde Drexler began his career alongside Young while they were both in college. They played for the school team and for other teams outside of school. Due to their numerous victories, this team gained national attention. Clyde was promoted to tomahawk from half court. However, the team was defeated by North Carolina in the 1982 game and did not advance to the final championship.
They won again in 1982-83 and took first place, followed by Louisville. He was unable to compete in the championship game, which was scheduled against North Carolina, and therefore forfeited the game. He later decided to leave Houston and enter the NBA draft.
Drexler was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers and led them to several victories, including a trip to the NBA Finals. He joined the Houston Rockets on February 14, 1995, after being granted permission by the Portland Blazers. He played for Houston until he retired.
