Pune: The demand to change the name of Aurangabad city to Sambhaji Nagar in Maharashtra is old. Over the past few days, there has been a demand to change the name of Ahmednagar city to Ahiliyanagar Pune. There was also a request to change the city’s name. Sharad Pawar’s NCP leader, Amal Mitkari, named Pune city Jizhou Demand do. But this proposal was opposed by the Hindu Union. This is how the debate on renaming Pune started.

Nationalist Congress Party leader Amal Mitkario tweeted a demand to change the name of Pune city to Jijau Nagar. In his tweet, he wrote, ‘Pune city should be named Jijau Nagar, this is the wish of all Shivaji devotees. He will raise this request to the Government in the next National Assembly session.

Hindu League opposes NCP leader’s demand to rename Pune city as Jijau Nagar Hindu Mahasangh President Anand Dave issued a statement saying, ‘Jijaumata is revered by all Hindutva and Shivaji devotees in the country. But naming the city of Pune after him is not right. Even Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj himself did not change the name of this city. Instead of renaming the city, it is better to build a memorial in his name in the Lal Mahal area. The Mahasangh of Hinduism has been making this claim for a long time.
