Costco “super fan” discovers the secret to making roasted chicken after visiting 200 stores 2023

A couple who call themselves Costco “super fans” recently shared one of the wholesaler’s secrets after visiting 200 stores globally in seven years.

Who would have thought that the membership store would attract such a passionate fan base? However, Costco has done just that.

There have been social media accounts dedicated to updating the latest deals on offer, but a new king and queen have risen.

Self-described Costco “fans” David and Susan Schwartz spent seven years visiting more than 200 stores to write an in-depth book about their favorite wholesaler. And they even discovered a trade secret.

Speaking to Insider, the pair revealed their investigation took three trips around the world as they co-authored the novel “The Joy of Costco: A Treasure Hunt from A to Z.”

There are hundreds of Costco stores worldwide, providing members with “the best products at the best possible prices.” One of their most popular products is their famous roast chicken, which was the subject of Schwartz’s exploration.

“They time-stamp the roast chicken so it only stays on the shelf for two hours because after two hours it doesn’t taste as good,” David says. Susan added: “They do the right thing when no one is looking. They are just decent. And that’s just a wonderful thing.”

According to the couple, when a rotisserie chicken restaurant’s timer runs out, an employee will reuse the meat to prepare dishes such as soups and salads.

This way, the product is always guaranteed to be fresh, one of the many reasons Schwartz’ considers Costco to be a class above the rest.
