Customers are confused by the 15 USD “you are an asshole” charge on the birthday dinner bill 2023

A night out with a diner’s wife took a bizarre turn when the restaurant added a $15 fee to the bill that said “you’re an asshole.”

No one wants to find out about hidden costs and fees when they get their receipt, but one restaurant appears to have added insult to injury by overcharging a man in the form of a nasty insult.

In a viral Reddit post from earlier this year, a customer uploaded his receipt from the Westgate Bourbon Bar and Tap House in Beaverton, Oregon, and users were shocked by what they saw.

According to ‘KnightOfChronos’, he took his wife out for her birthday and after ordering food and receiving the bill, he noticed a $15 additional charge that read “You’re an asshole ”.

Redditors were confused by what they saw, and some wondered what exactly the customer could have done to deserve such an unpleasant insult on his bill.

As it turns out, however, “you’re an asshole” wasn’t an insult hurled at the couple by their server Katie, but was actually the name of a menu item they forgot they loved bridge.

“I completely forgot the name of the cocktail when I got the bill but it was called ‘You’re an asshole, Mr. Burton,’” the customer revealed. “It definitely surprised me.”

Sure enough, the restaurant’s website has this cocktail on the menu. It includes gin, 20 year old tawny, lemon juice, honey, peach bitters, egg whites, brown sugar and coupe.

While this cocktail’s name could certainly have seriously backfired, luckily the situation was resolved and customers had only good things to say about the dish.

“It was a great sandwich!” He added, praising the fried chicken.

This is not the first restaurant failure that has gone viral recently. Earlier this year, Kick announcer Ice Poseidon was arrested for letting his girlfriend lapdance in a restaurant in Thailand.
