Comedian Dave Chappelle will launch his own podcast series later this year. Midnight miracle will feature Chappelle alongside co-hosts Talib Kweli and Yassin Bey (formerly Mos Def) as the trio chat about their lives.
Set to launch on the Luminary podcast network next month, the three hosts will share experiences from their successful careers, delve into their personal lives and interview famous friends.
“Creating a podcast wasn’t the obvious next step for me, but it was the right move,” Chappelle said in a press release. “Midnight miracle gives you a look at how me and my friends process the world around us, and I think it will change the way listeners think about what a podcast can be.”
Along with conversations between the three hosts, the podcast will feature sketches, archival audio clips and a soundtrack highlighting the music of Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, D’Angelo and other artists other.
Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this podcast, especially since Chappelle is joined by Kweli and Bey, both of whom are famous for speaking their minds and causing controversy. Hopefully it’s as funny as a Chappelle stand-up show with a serious enough tone to make us, the listeners, think about what we heard long after it’s over.
Midnight miracle will be released in the coming weeks on Luminary.
