The legal battle between Dbrand and Casetify has taken a new turn, with Dbrand now accusing Casetify of also stealing case designs from other brands.

Dbrand has filed a “multi-million dollar federal lawsuit” against Casetify for allegedly copying and slightly modifying its “Teardown” cases.

These cases, developed in collaboration with YouTuber Zack ‘JerryRigEverything’ Nelson, feature unique images of the device’s internals, complete with Easter eggs and special elements — which Dbrand claims was copied by Casetify in their “Inside Out” case line.

Casetify responded to the initial lawsuit by emphasizing their commitment to originality and promptly removing questioned designs from their platform. And now, on November 24, Dbrand made new allegations in a series of recent tweets.

“Turns out, we weren’t the only brand Casetify stole,” Dbrand wrote in an X/Twitter thread.

“Yesterday, while the Casetify website was removing our stolen products, some users noticed that they had also removed ‘X-Ray Box’ from their website.

“On Wednesday night, we launched 398 unique X-Ray products that have been in development for months. Based on the timelines, it’s clear Casetify isn’t stealing anything from us here.

“Instead, they stole this X-Ray design from iFixit and apparently tried to hide it during yesterday’s chaos,” Dbrand alleged.

Dbrand’s four-part Twitter thread makes serious allegations, suggesting that Casetify likely copied designs from iFixit, another company in the tech accessories market.

iFixit has since joined Dbrand in calling Casetify one by one Targeted messages on social media.

“Dear Casetify, using stolen X-rays of your phone’s internals doesn’t make you a tech genius; it makes you a copycat,” iFixit wrote.

“Why don’t you invest some of those “cutting edge” profits into supporting Right to Repair or wheelchair advocacy? Or is that too original for you?

While a separate issue to Dbrand’s original claim that Casetify copied and slightly modified its “Teardown” cases, this latest development raises additional questions about the practice. Casetify’s design and adds another layer to the ongoing legal saga.

Casetify has yet to comment on these most recent allegations.
