Casetify, one of the world’s largest phone case suppliers, is under fire from Dbrand after the company claimed Casetify “stole” JerryRigEverything’s case design. According to Dbrand, it is filing a “multi-million dollar federal lawsuit” to protect its intellectual property rights.
JerryRigEverything is a YouTuber known for pushing technology to its absolute limits, taking any big piece of technology that comes along at its pace and tearing it apart to figure out what makes it work.
It’s not surprising that his most popular and frequent projects are related to phones, which almost everyone has. He’s smashed dozens of phones, inspiring him to collaborate with Dbrand on a series of ‘Teardown’ phone cases that show off the phone’s internal hardware on the outside.
However, JerryRigEverything has claimed that Casetify is stealing his design, citing several Easter eggs that he and supplier Dbrand have stuck with. Additionally, Dbrand has confirmed that it is filing a “multi-million dollar” lawsuit against Casetify.
JerryRig Everything & Dbrand accuse Casetify of stealing designs
On a surface level, the idea of stealing a design based on the inner workings of a phone seems like a difficult thing to do. After all, it’s not like JerryRig Everything makes phones based on that design.
However, the crux of Dbrand and JerryRig Everything’s argument lies in the small details. According to both sides, these designs are included in Easter eggs that are not part of the inner workings of the real phone.
In a series of tweets, Dbrand placed Casetify’s design next to theirs, showing similarities between what’s listed on Casetify’s website and what’s on the phone cases they’re selling. At the time of writing, it is not possible to compare Dbrand’s findings with what is currently available on Casetify’s website as the listing of their “Inside Out” phone case series was taken down shortly after Dbrand arrested begin pursuing legal action.
However, JerryRigEverything pre-purchased a sample of these phone cases to compare them with what Dbrand and himself were selling to see if any of the unique parts of their design were present in Casetify’s offering. or not.

The video’s description also reads: “I don’t often get robbed by billion-dollar corporations… but when I do, I win.”
Dbrand has since confirmed to Dexerto that it has filed a “multi-million dollar federal lawsuit” against Casetify and plans to take the company to court over the matter.
Casetify has not yet commented on the allegations or the lawsuit.
