Below Deck Med fans have always been divided over Captain Sandy’s leadership skills. While some viewers were under the impression that the captain was a great leader and had her own unique way of running the ship, others believed she was guilty of inciting drama.
In the current season of Below Deck Med, some fans have argued that the captain intentionally delayed the Tumi/Natalya drama in order to have a more compelling storyline on the show. Fans accuse Captain Sandy of dragging out the drama on Below Deck Med
During Season 8 of the hit Bravo show, Tumi and Natalya were involved in a heated feud. They have been working together for days but still butt heads, with Natalya refusing to put aside their differences.
Even when Tumi confides in Captain Sandy by telling her about her struggle with Nat, the captain’s reaction is to wait things out by suggesting that Tumi try being nice to Natalya.
It wasn’t until Tumi and Natalya’s explosive fight later in the episode that the captain intervened.
Some fans noticed a delay in Captain Sandy’s action, suggesting it was done to prolong the film.
“Am I the only one who thinks that Captain Sandy’s inaction contributed to the conflict among the staff?” one fan asked in the Reddit thread below.
One commenter responded to this thread by saying that Sandy was too “witchy” for the movie.
“Sandy contributes to her employees the same way someone is contributing to extinguishing a forest fire by splashing water with a teaspoon,” they wrote.
Another fan defended Sandy, saying she couldn’t win. She is described by fans as either too strict or too indulgent. “So is she a micromanager or is she at fault?” They asked, “Because she gets criticized for both things here, and it makes no sense.”
