Doja Cat is once again facing backlash, this time after posting a selfie on Instagram wearing a shirt attributed to neo-Nazi and comedian Sam Hyde.
Doja Cat has been frequently in the news headlines lately for a variety of reasons, most of which have little to do with her actual music.
From TikTokers theorizing that she was possessed to the rapper herself arguing with fans on social media – whether intentionally or not, Doja is getting herself into hot water.
And now it seems she’s done it again, causing a stir among fans after a selfie posted to Instagram featured the controversial comedian’s image on her shirt.
That comedian is Sam Hyde, who has publicly expressed support for far-right and neo-Nazi groups, and has had a series of serious allegations against him.
Online, he was dubbed a misogynist, racist and homophobe, with Hope not Hate reporting that Sam once stated, “If I had the chance to beat a woman legally, it will go down and it will go down fast.”
In the selfie, Sam’s photo can be seen plastered on the front of Doja’s shirt, with the comedian holding a rifle. Doja deleted and then reposted a cropped version of the selfie on Friday, October 6, but this didn’t stop the rapper’s fans from criticizing her.
“We saw the first post,” one person wrote on Instagram. Another said: “Girls, get your shit together. This is not cute or funny at all.”
Many felt the shirt crossed the line and offended Doja’s latest antics; “I know you are a funny person and have a good sense of humor but this shirt is in no way a joke and it crosses the line and is completely unacceptable.”
Despite many people asking the rapper why she would own or post anything featuring Sam Hyde, Doja has yet to respond to this latest wave of backlash.
