Country music legend Dolly Parton covered Prince’s iconic song “Purple Rain” on her highly anticipated rock album and fans were thrilled by the performance.

Dolly Parton did not want to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame before then. She wanted to earn her place, as if she hadn’t done more already.

In 2022, Parton was nominated into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. She took to Twitter/X to deny it, record how could she not “want the votes to be divided because of me so I have to respectfully bow my head.”

She went on to add that the nomination inspired her to make her first rock album.

Dolly took “Purple Rain” to spin emotions

On November 17, 2023, Parton’s dream of becoming a bona fide rock star came true with the release of Rockstar, in which she covered a series of iconic hits, including “Purple Rain” by Prince.

Thundering guitars accompany Parton’s crystal clear vocals as she glides through her evocative lyrics with intense emotional energy.

Fans were quick to point out the performance as one of her best, highlighting the tweaks in the arrangements and how “it grows on you,” one fan wrote.

Another fan said it was proof that she deserved to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

“I will listen to purple rain dolly parton all day long and beyond and forever until I leave this earth and no one can stop me,” a third user exclaimed.

By the sounds of things, Dolly Parton has now earned her rightful place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
