On the heels of the Taylor Swift & Whitney Houston night announcement for Season 32, DWTS fans have been enjoying themed nights.
When it comes to Dancing with the Stars, pairs are required to perform each week in a specific dance style.
Regarding music selection, sometimes they don’t have much choice, especially when it’s artist-themed music nights, meaning duos are only allowed to dance to one song by that artist.
So far, Season 32 has confirmed the show’s first Taylor Swift performance. And now, days after that announcement, another icon is scheduled to host a night of dancing. And viewers weren’t expecting it.
Are DWTS fans excited for Whitney Houston’s concert?
On October 23, the DWTS Instagram account revealed that another artist night, centered around Whitney Houston, would take place for Season 32.
It will air on November 14 and Broadway performer Billy Porter will attend as a guest judge.
Annoyed, viewers quickly took to a Reddit thread to vent about the new announcement.
One fan wrote: “All due respect to Whitney Houston and every other artist they have or will feature in this way but I really don’t like this artist’s special nights. By the time I got past midnight, I was ready for something new.”
Another fan wrote: “I love Whitney Houston. Do not misunderstand me. She is an absolute icon. But…I’m really tired of these artist nights. They are repetitive and boring, IMO.”
Hopefully DWTS will take fan criticism into consideration and have fewer themed nights next season if the show is renewed. Are these the only two artist nights of Season 32? Only time will tell.
