Grammy-winning musician Ed Sheeran has called out fellow singer Lewis Capaldi for an influential boxing match.
It’s been a strange few years in the influencer world, as some of the biggest stars on the Internet have begun to put their words aside and settle their differences in the ring.
Notably, we have seen YouTube and TikTok stars transform into professional boxers, with some even stepping into the ring with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.
With KSI’s Misfits Boxing signing a five-year deal with DAZN in early 2023, there are plenty of opportunities for celebrities to touch the gloves. Now, award-winning singer Ed Sheeran has revealed he would fight Lewis Capaldi if he stepped into the ring.
Ed Sheeran wants to fight Lewis Capaldi on Misfits Boxing
On 25 November, Sheeran was seen in Dublin at Taylor vs Cameron 2, where later in an interview with iFL TV, he was asked who he would like to face if he stepped into the ring on the Misfits card Boxing.
Initially, the Yorkshire-born singer claimed that he had worn gloves and fought with his father. However, when forced to call someone else on the scene, Sheeran announced he would duel Lewis Capaldi.
“Capaldi,” he answered without hesitation. “I will do that. Lewis, damn you, you son of a bitch.”
While it’s unlikely we’ll actually see the two musicians don gloves and step into the ring, it’s worth noting that Sheeran’s family has a history in boxing.
In his own words, the musician grew up around boxing, as his grandfather was a boxer who trained at England’s oldest boxing club and was even a member of British Boxing Board of Control (BBOC).
Given their obvious interest in influential people entering the ring, it wouldn’t be entirely surprising to see them fight in an exhibition match or something similar.
