New York firefighters rushed to a house fire only to find “awesome” Halloween decorations instead of flames.
Halloween is fast approaching as we enter the spooky season and many holiday lovers are already getting to work decorating their homes for the big night.
However, one person may have done a little too well with their convincing decorations when their enthusiasm and commitment to the holiday led to a call to emergency services.
The fire department in Glens Falls, New York rushed to the house fire call only to realize the danger was all special effects.
Sharing footage of the dramatic set-up on Facebook, the fire department wrote: “Crews were dispatched to the Sanford St area this evening to reports of a confirmed structure fire. To my surprise, this is a great Halloween decoration.”
In their post, they also revealed that the impressive performance will last “Friday and Saturday nights for the public’s entertainment” until the end of October.
And it seems these Halloween fans aren’t the only ones who came up with this ingenious trick, as another TikToker is sharing their own fiery illusion.
Viewers were amazed by the realistic appearance of the decoration, which, according to the fire department, was made from “two LED lights, a box fan, a silver plate” and a fog machine. One person said, “That was really scary, it was so real,” another wrote, “This is so good! Good job!”
However, not everyone thinks fake flames are a good idea, pointing out that they can keep firefighters from doing real work. Luckily, one person had some helpful advice; “If you have decorations like this, you better call the fire department and warn them so they don’t show up at your house!”
