Dr. Alan Bunney, former CEO of Panda Global, has revealed new information about the company’s demise after Nintendo shut down the Smash World Tour and Ludwig’s incident became the nail in the coffin for PG how.

In December 2022, two major Smash tournaments were set to take place: VGBC’s Smash World Tour Finals and Panda Cup Finals, but neither happened.

Panda Cup was the first officially licensed Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Super Smash Bros Melee championship tournament, but unlike Panda, SWT did not receive Nintendo’s blessing and the event was notably closed door.

Following Nintendo’s decision, Ludwig organized his own event called “Scuffed World Tour” and scheduled it to take place on the same day as the Panda Cup finals, which were being boycotted by top players. Now, new information from Panda’s CEO has revealed just how damaging this is for the esports organization.

Ludwig’s ‘Scuffed World Tour’ smash is said to have killed Panda

Speaking on the Lights Out podcast with commentator EEvisu and professional players Light and Cosmos, Dr. Alan explained that Ludwig’s tournament unintentionally caused the end of Panda, which was accused of having a role in the collapse of SWT.

“Before I left, I said let’s turn it into an invitation. There are quite a few players boycotting us who won’t come [the Panda Cup Finale]But we can use our Sunday spot and try to get into the top eight or top 16 or something,” he said.

“The reason we had to cancel was because Ludwig decided to hold the Scuffed World Tour on the same Sunday as our venue. Ludwig came in to try and save the community, but in doing so, it was the final nail in the loss of over 150 jobs,” he revealed.

Bunney, however, reiterated that he does not blame Ludwig and believes that the YouTuber did not know what was going to happen, but noted that it is highly unlikely that players were invited to compete at the Scuffed World Tour will attend the Panda event.

The former CEO added: “There is no malice here, but the reality is that if Ludwig had not organized the Scuffed World Tour or if he had organized it on a different date, it is possible that Panda would still be around today. now”.

This news is sure to add an exciting new dimension to the Smash World Tour set. To date, Ludwig has not responded to this revelation, but in October, the YouTuber revealed that Nintendo “sued” him over the Ludwig Ahgren Championship Series the summer before the shutdown.
