Gary McAllister began his playing career at local football team Motherwell. He supported the club as a child but also had feelings for Manchester United as his family was familiar with Matt Busby’s family. In August 1985, Gary signed for the English club, along with Motherwell teammate Ally Mauchlen. McAllister played a total of 225 matches, scoring 52 goals in 5 seasons with Leicester.
